RMF is offering all its members a 15% discount on the performance La Sylphide on tickets purchased from Teatru Manoel ticket booth. for shows being held on 3rd & 4th April. Discounts will be given on presentation of the RMF membership card.

La Sylphide is the first romantic ballet dating back to 1832, when it first premiered at the Paris Opéra with choreography by Filippo Taglioni and music by Jean-Madeleine Schneitzhoeffer. Taglioni's daughter, Maria Taglioni, was the first to interpret the role of the Sylphide. It is in this ballet that pointe work was introduced in the female technique to give the female dancer the illusion of flight. The ballet is about the seduction of a young Scotsman, James, by a winged forest spirit, a Sylphide, at the dawn of the day of his marriage to Effie. The cast of Johane Casabene Dance Conservatoire's version of La Sylphide includes a corps de ballet of over a 100 performers and Caroline Ciantar Barbara as Effie, Christina Camilleri as La Sylphide and Etoile Danseur Donatien Ravet as James. Artistic Direction, Production and choreographic adaption of the original version of the ballet is by Johane Casabene. Assistant Producer Marco Calleja and Set Design by Ray Farrugia.
